MiniTetris

This is the Tetris I've got for my Rex, and it works pretty well with the constraints of the device. I naturally tried to control the game using the buttons, but this proved a bad idea. The buttons on the Rex require a bit too much force to be responsive enough for a game, and the time until holding down the button is noticed is too long. Also, I didn't like the button assignments. Sure, it's natural to place movement on the arrow buttons, but I really would have liked to have the rotate button inbetween those. It would have felt much more easy to play for me then, but maybe I'm a minority here ... Anyway, I came to realize that the better way to play was with the stylus, tapping the on-screen arrows to control things. Sure, it isn't the "proper" way to do it, but it's so much nicer and more responsive. However, the inaccuracy of clicks on the Rex lead to some misplaced and misrotated blocks when things start to speed up, but there's not much that could have been done about it anyway.

The general slowness of the Rex also affects playability of MiniTetris. Removal of lines takes forever, as does dropping a block all the way down. It's good for making last-split-second adjustments of positions though, that feels much easier than in many other Tetrises. And it might just be me, but it feels like the game also rotates the blocks in the opposite direction to what you're used to.

I guess I should try the other Tetris for the Rex that I've seen on the web before I make a general statement, but it seems to me like the general slowness of the Rex is a hinder for really enjoying Tetris on it. Still, it's good to always be able to have a Tetris around :-) ...

MiniTetris has been updated! And the new version 1.1 is a huge improvement. Besides from realizing that playing using the stylus is the right way (and it really is) the game has got some huge speed improvements since the last version. The accuracy of the screen tapping also seems improved. You'll probably make a few mistakes when the game speeds up, but it won't be because the game got the tap wrong anymore.

Recommendations are now clear, this is the Tetris for the Rex 6000!
