Red Alert 2 Notes

12/11 2000

Better players may not, but I still feel there's a bit of intelligence in the AI. Like to play against it on Isle of War, and still tend to lose against brutal AIs. I've kept to the USA, which the AI has tended to be too. This time it was Libya though and I thought "Yeah! No harriers to worry about! Just Kirovs if the game gets long.". Things went well for a while, topping when I blew out the computer's construction yard with my harriers and had taken down most or all of his war miners. Then, things turned quickly. The reason, of course, were kirovs, three of them ... With no buildings left things get difficult :-) ... Need to become more adaptive, stick awfully much to Harriers and Paratroopers, and prepare more for things that aren't happening right now.

FiringSquad has finally got around to reviewing RA2. Wonder what took them so long, they were very early out with a hands-on preview after all. Maybe they couldn't stop playing ... Anyway, I don't agree with some things they say. First off, I think they may be as Starcraft damaged as they say they are, they're actually thinking some designs of this game are wrong by being different from Starcraft. Sure, they justify it by saying it's logical to have fog of war and being able to build different things in different barracks, but I still like my games to be different from eachother thank you. Plus it's nice to be rid of that fog of war when you're not even able to have it ...
