Music

It may be true that music sounds better with you, a lot of things are certainly much better when accompanied by some music. Music is good for entertainment, for relaxing and for thinking about. In short; it enhances experiences.

So, what does this guy listen to then? Well, this may be an old worn-out statement but I think it fits for describing me; I listen to most kinds of music. I think there are good things about most styles and artists, but hardcore and things heavier than that isn't really my thing. At least I think so now, something may well come along to change that. I used to think that I couldn't listen to sugar-sweet things like Aqua, but I changed my mind after a while, and somehow that music is perfect for the game Ignition. Some music takes longer than other to get into, I had had Oais' Be Here Now for a year before I discovered that it actually was quite good after all. Here's my list of some stuff I listen to.

I like to try and get into a new album by listening straight through it at least once without doing something else at the same time, preferably with lyrics in hand. It gives some sort of basic overview of it all, and makes sure you've heard all the songs "actively" at least once. All songs are easier to get into after you've listened closely to them, sometimes I've thought songs are endless and repetitive the first time I've heard them, when they on the second listening turn out to be about four minutes and not that bad at all. Listening close enough and at the right volume can do a lot to a song, believe me ...

Listening to and thinking about lyrics is nice to do too. They may se the mood, make you laugh, think or look things up in an encyclopaedia. Come to think of it I'd like to write what one of my classmates said about CD booklets; they should contain pictures of the artist, the lengths of the songs and the lyrics. I fully agree with that, and I think the last thing is the most important. Few things are as annoying as the lyrics of the song reaching those few words you haven't quite been able to hear, but which are so important to understanding what it's all about. Misunderstood lyrics have, very entertaining, webpages of their own, but that's another story ... By the way, are there laws against quoting a sample in a lyric sheet, or does just everyone regard them as part of the music and not the lyrics? Beastie Boys have some of the samples written down among the lyrics of Hallo Nasty, but not all of them. Perhaps you mustn't write down a sample taken from someone else ...
