Yet another week is coming to an end, another week which ended on a day other than Friday. This time, it was Thursday. Next week will be full, really, meaning no good night's sleep until Friday evening ...

Wednesday and Thursday were spent at Rosersberg, a school for firemen and other assorted rescue people, including civil service men. The first big thing that meant was sleeping away from Almnäs, in a bed of your own, in a room of your own. That makes a whole lot of difference to your awareness the next day, I can assure that. The other big thing, and the main event of the trip, was a realistic rescue situation drill in a ruin city. Real and, above all, unknown people acting as hurt and in need of help makes everything a good deal more serious than when your classmates do it. The "city" itself, a few blocks worth of ruins, was a cool place indeed, a lot of us immediately thought along the lines of Quake and paintball. When the drill started and we left our bomb shelter, fires and ruins all around us, the only thing you could have added to the mood was some dramatic music. We didn't do too bad either, although our organization could have been better everyone got rescued, some even in the best way, and all fires were put out.

This week I've also finally taken my first step toward a driver's license by joining a theory course. So far it doesn't feel like we've gotten anywhere in particular, we've seen a heavily car-industry sponsored film and listened to lots of talk about the great fishing lake nearby and what our teacher's father-in-law thought about the Almnäs swimming pool. I sure hope things improve from here on ... If not, we have at least aquired the theory books a lot cheaper than otherwie possible, and they seem to be good. Now all I need is get around to take some driving lessons too, but don't count on that happening too soon ;-) ...

Found Grim Fandango at B&W for SEK 99 at B&W last Sunday and couldn't resist the opportunity. As I bought Wing Commander: Prophecy the other day I've kept from even installing Grim so far. No game gains anything from only recieving half of your interest. Plus I think Grim Fandango deserves at least 120 percent of my attention, as well as some more time than just a few weekends. Good thing the three-week home-district-period is coming up (only next week left), bad thing I still don't know where I'll spend that period working ... Oh well, I can live with just staying at home too ;-) ...
