Buses are interesting things. What makes them go at the wrong times? Why are they never on time when they actually go? Another interesting thing is how some people time their arrival at the bus stop in relation to the bus. Three people will be compared; me, my classmate and his sister, because we often go to the same bus stop to take the same bus, but with different timing.
I arrive first, since I leave home at about the same time as the bus leaves the terminus. This is too early, I will always have to wait for at least five to ten minutes, but I know I won't miss it. Then, a few minutes later, the sister of my classmate's arrives. She's probably got the best timing, she won't have to wait for as long as I always do, and she still doesn't risk missing the bus. And finally, when you estimate that the bus could turn up at any second, my classmate arrives. At best, that is ... He'll never have to wait for more than a few minutes for the bus, but on the other hand he sometimes has to run to catch it at all. And sometimes he misses it altogether. A bit risky from my point of view, but it is entertaining to watch him running the first distance to see if the bus is close or not. Going by bus has its little bonuses ...
Still, someone ought to do something about the schedule of our bus. If you know what time the bus is supposed to leave the terminus, you can be sure it won't arrive there before that time but, especially in the winter, probably some minutes later. Is that good planning by the bus company? Wouldn't say so ...
