Ate crayfish for the first time this year yesterday. I don't think there's any country where you eat them like you do here in Sweden. Having them with ketchup can be considered heresy of the worst kind.
Now, the proper way to have them is not the easiest. Not everyone is able to follow, or even appreciate, the work required to follow this the one true path. Still, it is the only right way to eat crayfish with respect. First, they must have been cooked alive with a lot of dill. Normally, we buy them frozen and just thaw them at home. Then, you have to peel them the right way, sucking and chewing at the right places. And no, you can't just leave the claws, you have to crack them open too. The best way to consume the meat you extract thorugh these exercises is on hard bread, and perhaps with a slice of cheese. Singing and drinking schnapps and beer is optional, but are probably required for the last steps toward true enlightenment.
See, there is a hint of barbary in every culture ;-) ...
It's not even 23:00, and still I'm starting to feel tired. A very early case of being affected by increasing darkness or what?
Just finished another game of Guardians. My brother is taking my Stinking Spirits out of action using copious amounts of beer. Still, I managed to win the game, even though my main weapon was constantly being bribed. He was struck by a sudden creature shortage which I managed to take advantage of. What I need is more Stinking to get through more times than he can bribe me ... Or perhaps I should just think of something new altogether. That worked well last time around ...
Got a postcard from Martin today. Not your average postcard, mind you. No, now we're talking a 22,5x18,5 cm previous Müsli package frontside, the backside of which contained 604 words, not counting address. This increases tension in the postcard-length-conflict. It all started with a postcard from me to him during the February holiday. He put it on his homepage and wrote that it had quite a lot of words on it (ninety-something I think). So, from Borlänge I wrote him one which easily beat the first one in text mass. And now this ... I'm just telling you, pal, expect something fairly extended from me the next time I go somewhere ;-) ...
