It's over! Got home from the civil service yesterday, and the last week wasn't even half as bad as we'd feared. Most evenings were reasonably quiet and most, perhaps even all, people actually helped get the final cleaning done. Of course, that didn't decrease the feeling that it was great to get away from there for good. In a stroke of genious, the teachers had booked a bus, for 110 people or something, for us, 160 people or something ... That bus was full, I can assure that ... Still, everyone got aboard, so maybe it was well planned after all ...

This night, I slept for about ten hours. Not before I'd finished Grim Fandango though. It's strange really, you get stuck and can't figure out what to do for a long time. Then, you put it away for a week or two and worry about other things. And then you sit down with it one evening when you're feeling really tired and solve the problem immediately! I feel like exclaiming the classic "Why didn't I think of that?!" but that'd feel a bit stupid, so I won't.

Time for our traditional christmas tree-chopping tomorrow, a real classic for our family. Sandwiches, coffee, a walk in the forest looking for a good tree, food, dessert, more coffee and cookies. Nothing for people on a diet, but very nice for everyone else. Also, it's the last time before christmas we meet my dad's parents, so today was last chance to fix presents for them. Naturally, after a week of nice winter weather, today was two degrees warm and really gray and rainy. The right shopping mood just won't show up when the weather's like that ... Stupid idea to have a really depressive autumn day after the winter ... If things don't shape up quickly, the newspapers will have to eat those large headlines about a white christmas this year, and without ketchup ...
