Another evening of extensive surfing is taking shape. Yesterday I spent six hours or so in front of this computer, reading lots of stuff on games and hardware while chatting with Ellen. Thinking ... this is what things could be like at home without those damn per-minute fees. No stress to finish what you're doing, no need for cache-surfing (which is, by the way, a great thing to have when you're not online all the time), and no need to feel guilty for doing "useless" things (like downloading 3dfx commercials).
They're making things harder for us when using this room. First, (officially not) because of some "unsuitable" content, everything was deleted from the computers. Now, they've installed something which supposedly restores everything to the basic configuration at each restart. Files are deleted, options reset and so on. It works too, for drive C, but not for drive D ... Some thoughtful file-juggling (exporting and importing of the registry and copying back and forth of dll's) allows me to keep on using ICQ without having to reinstall every time I start the computer. Now I just hope no-one gets any ideas and wipe the D drives again, just to make sure ...
