Cars
Ok, cars can be pretty cool, and they are a convenient way of moving about. However, it would still be a damn good thing if there weren't half as many around, or they at least were a bit kinder to the enviroment. Call me paranoid or whatever, I'm still sure there is something to the ideas that car companies keep development of new, enviroment-kind cars back as much as they possibly can. I read somewhere that if cars had been invented today, only licensed professional drivers would be allowed to use them. That would really be something, just think of the saves in injuries and kills. Not to mention the enviromental saves (in the current situation, suddenly running out of oil would probably be one of the better things that could happen to earth ...), or the costs of maintaining all those roads.
Somehow, I'm feeling less and less urge to get a driver's license. I mean, driving is dangerous, expensive and bad for the enviroment. I wouldn't complain if private driving (the most unnecessary type of driving) was prohibited in cities. Even better, give up cars altogether and improve train services again! Long live mass transit (and bicycles)!
Whew, I don't think I've ever sounded as idealistic on this site before ... And still, when all is said and done, I can't deny that I'd probably enjoy to drive a sports car some day ...
