2002, a Bicycle Odyssey

To mail the motherboard of the now famous other computer in and get a replacement, I need to send it in the original box along with anything else that came with it. Since we hadn't counted on anything happening with it, the guy who sold me the computer and I didn't think about digging up boxes when I made the purchase. So today, already hungry coming directly from school and having stopped at dad's place only to check my email, I set out to get the box. Simple so far.

What wasn't so simple was the utterly complicated and totally unplanned way I used to get from point A to point B, unintentionally passing by at least points C, D, E, F, G and T on the long and winding way. What I thought was a pretty smart turn to begin with turned out to be a bit different, and further misinterpretations (I realized this on the way back) only made things more difficult. While I wouldn't say I was totally lost (at least I always knew which way to take if I wanted to backtrack) it was pretty damn close, especially for a city in which I've been living my entire life. You appreciate the size of a city in a different way when you happen to leave your own familiar paths. I felt for a while like I'd ended up in someone else's everyday life; gray, cloudy, everything in the same colour tones and a slight feeling of being out of place. Pretty nice in a way really ...

Now I think I've deserved a good serving of pasta (with apron)!
