Was a long time since I listened to the Beastie Boys the last time, but now it's suddenly time again and it turns out that Paul's Boutique still sounds the way it should ...
Bad Microsoft related installation experiences today. Kristofer made me check out some silly video files promoting Windows XP, and because the streaming wasn't too smooth I opted to download instead.
Trying to open the downloaded files rendered Media Player unable to close. It kept working, but couldn't open those damn files, saying it couldn't recognize the format, and it wouldn't shut down unless being told to in the harshest of manners. Okay, maybe I didn't have the latest version of Media Player then.
Download ...
(Bloated file warning! Ten megabytes for a video player? Come on!)
(And no, I'm not giving a link to that)
... then install.
I should have expected it, but I didn't.
Giving me the choice to just install the newer components probably distracted me and gave me false hopes.
I thought nowadays even MS would make their programs polite enough to not restart a user's computer without even warning the user first.
But no.
Suckers ...
Take a clue or five from Winamp or something! Got a new version today, and of course it gave me the right options and didn't even ask me to restart before working flawlessly.
Oh, and of course Media Player still wouldn't play the damned wmd files, so I had to watch them in lower stream quality after all. Blah ...
Otherwise things are pretty nice. Things are looking bright on the apartment front, I may get myself a laptop and I'm still not really studying as much as I should/could/would if I were a better student ... And it's still a pretty darn nice autumn. I'm starting to think autumn is my favourite time of the year ...
Those with sharp eyes might notice this entry looks a bit different from the original one. This idea turned up when I wanted to do another diary entry and thought I did the last one yesterday.
Turned out it was really very early today I put it up.
Having studied the top external (in this version of the entry) probably played a part too.
And naturally the ever-present influence of Mr. Hall ...
Anyway, this is some kind of test. A bit airier, a bit more free-form.
Just a bit ... Doesn't feel perfect in any way, want more space between some lines without doing empty lines everywhere ... Maybe experiment a bit with those dusty old stylesheets that have been lying around since the dawn of time ...
Yeah, just a bit. Still, it's a step in some kind of direction, and I think I like it ...
In other news,
I still can't get that damn scanner to work!
That its level of operation has stabilized might be seen as a good thing.
Only problem is that the level of operation is zero ...
Time to upload and do something more productive.
Some cleaning up perhaps.
Or maybe get something to eat ...
