4/1
Day four, the dust would be clearing had anything notable at all happened four days ago ... But it didn't, so it isn't. Gustav still sleeps at least an hour longer than anyone else, and I myself get up so late I'm thinking about setting my clock just to get a bit more time awake during which the sun is up ... Lazy is a very fitting description of the current way of life. Well, it won't last for long, on Monday the holiday ends and everyone's back to work, school and normal day rythm. Everyone, except perhaps me ... I still haven't got anything "useful" to do this spring, yet. Should no job show up, I can always fall back to working on getting that driver's license I never seem to get started on. Step one: book time for an eye-sight examination. Once that's done, the real financial setbacks will start. Standing here with step one as a buffer inbetween feels safe and nice, thank you ...
Was over at Kristofer's yesterday and helped him out with coding his website. I managed to solve his problems, but I still don't see how some of them appeared in the first place. The answer's probably hidden in the heaps of table-code he'd used for layout, but I was unable to locate it, it all seemed right to me ... The moral is along the lines of "it's better to start from scratch so you know just what you do and don't cut and paste things you don't understand fully.", something I've realized long ago. Now I really sound like a besserwisser, but it's still true I'm afraid ...
Read Gamespot's article with interviews of 20 "visionary" game designers yesterday. There's no doubt about it, there are too many Star trek nerds among game designers, at least half of the visionaries mentioned the "holo deck" when asked to dream a bit about future computer development. Not living and breathing Star Trek myself, I'm not aware of the wonders of the holo deck, but I can guess ... In general, people's opinions were surprisingly similar, soon everyone will have high bandwidth connections and so on. My question is this; if all these "visionaries" have the same vision, are they really all that visionary? Hell, I've had the same ideas myself ... A positive note was that so many of them questioned the correctness of someone calling them visionary.
