9/5Someone, Kristofer I think, told me some day that a CD lasts for about fifteen years. I'd like a few more facts about that figure, for example if that's more or less than an LP. The thing is that I listened to my father's copy of The Wild, the Innocent and the E-Street Shuffle from 1973 and it sounded as good as anyone could ask. And I don't think it's been extraordinarily treated in any way either. So, do LPs last longer than CDs on an average if you're equally careful with them? To me, fifteen years sounds pretty low, considering how little a CD is worn when being played. I mean, the needle of an LP player is pulled along the record's surface every time the record is played. Is vinyl that much more resistant to wear and tear that dust and stuff collecting on CDs ruin them quicker? And are CDs affected by magnetism or not? Got to look for more info on the subject (I could well be on very thin ice already, considering I'm just going by my common sense :-) ... | ||
