Seem to be in a period of low motivation on the update-front ... Doing other stuff when in front of the computer than adding to this monolith of text. Completed the wierd and wonderful Vangers yesterday though, so now I'll have lots more computer time free than recently ... That game really got me with its strange atmosphere, and even if the end can be seen as more than a bit silly (I guess some people would groan quite a bit at it) it still felt pretty good somehow. A game with a different atmosphere would really have suffered from an end like that ...
Were to my father's cousins in Stockholm on a family party. Two of the three sisters, between the homes of which we moved over the day, lived in the Old Town in cosy apartments. I like these apartments in old houses, they have really different designs ... No-one builds modern houses with apartments covering four or five (lost count) different floors, or a u-shaped room layout either. I could live in a place like that, with windows looking out over narrow streets or really cool-looking roofs ...
I could live with the third apartment too, but it's in a whole different weight class, I'm not even sure apartment is the right word ... I'll just say it felt a bit unusual being in an apartment probably larger than our house and with two Polish maids and let you form your own picture from there ...
We also got a short guided tour of the Old Town by a guide who really would have liked to live in the 18th century. In the right clothes, which he appearantly used at times when guiding, he must have fit right in. His way of talking and gesturing sure felt like something theatrical from days past, and his knowledge of the period and city was probably faultless. Some of the cousin's children said they used to see him waiting for the bus, I must say picturing him waiting for a horse cart is a lot easier ...
Trying to improve my keyboard usage a bit more, eyed through the available keyboard commands available in Windows to see if there were any useful ones I'd missed before. There weren't any essential ones, but there are a lot of convenient commands I could use pretty often to save time if I only got them into my head. Like holding down alt and then pressing space to open a window's system menu, followed by another keypress to minimize, maximize or restore the window. Learning, and using, stuff like that to replace the mouse is high on the cool-list (plus, it's probably better for your elbow too) ... Should learn correct finger positioning too, that's another cool thing to master. The trouble is that when you are learning that you have to do a whole lot of erasing, and that puts your little finger in the whole wrong position. Hey, I just wrote these sentences on the subject using a more than just my index fingers, maybe there is hope after all ... Should sit down and just type things in without correcting them, I guess that'd get me into it pretty fast. It's so cool when your fingers just land on the right keys, isn't it?
Well, looks I got a bit written today at least ...
