Thoughts about the songs ...

Instant repeater '99

I would say this one is about looking to the past, perhaps something common when approaching a new millennium if you want to explain the name. "We're all rewinding to get high." We look to the past for inspiration and strength to go on into the future. And that's the way to do it, according to the song; "Here's a way for a new age. Another way to catch your eye." Once you have reviewed the past and learnt from it, you can go on. "I'm ready to go this time. Away where the faces fly. I'm ready to leave Instant repeater '99." When you come out of it, you're ready to leave the past behind and enter the future. This sounds very much like Hindu or Bhuddistic beliefs, which is interesting ...

Confrontation camp

About someone who just locks himself in, too afraid of meeting other people and risk making a fool of himself (the opposite to Blow my cool ...). "Protective lies to ease my pain" says a lot about the situation. Rocks big time. And the live version is even better ...

Blow my cool

One of the more obvious TSOOL songs, IMHO. He's free; you're not. You're afraid to mess things up, but you shouldn't be. Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself, it's more fun that way. Perhaps this is what you realize after the confrontation camp ...

Bendover babies

Porn. And the fact that watching it doesn't make you a monster. If you want to get deeper, it probably says a bit about Ebbot's (assuming he wrote the lyrics) love life, or rather the lack of it ...

Greatest hit providers

Candidate for best song of the album. As far as I know it's only available on the LP version, too bad for everyone else ... The intro somehow reminds me of Confrontation camp, and other bits of this song also feels like I've heard them somewhere else. Still, it really feels like it fits together very well. One of the most gripping TSOOL songs, IMHO.

Galaxy gramophone

This title feels so good ... Only seems to be available on the LP version, which feels quite appropriate when you think about it ... . It's a really good, if somewhat "noisy", song. I don't think it's a coincidence it isn't about a "galaxy CD" ... LP's have much more of a life than CD's. "I can live a life at any time I want, with a galaxy gramophone". Being alive only when listening to music makes it sound like life really isn't all that nice to you ...
