Garbage

Version 2.0 is another one of those almost all-hit albums. Not as quick to stick as Worldwide delivery, but pretty close, and the extra time is well worth it.

My first impression was that the sound felt very similar throughout the record, and that it felt quite programmed. It still does, you won't be fooled it's a real drummer or anything, but there's nothing negative about it. The record is simply very tight, and all the songs fit in and together very well, forming a solid unit.

It starts out a bit slow with Temptation waits, then builds up to speed on I think I'm paranoid and reaches full power with When I grow up. From there on, just sit back and enjoy the ride. Almost exactly every other song is a slower one, followed by a faster one, then a slower one again and so on. You'll appreciate that, the mixture is very good and gives each song a good effect.

At first, the songs may sound a bit similar in sound, but you'll notice the differences soon enough. I really like the in-your-ear breathing and whispering on Hammering in my head as well as the "airier", clearer feeling of Special for example. They're quite different, yet they all fit into the sound and feel in a great way.

Got to dig up that new Bond theme somewhere, I hear they've done that too ...
