BS2000
The Beasties are a wierd bunch. Even imagining any other artist/s releasing something like this is beyond me. Other people worry too much about image and selling records and stuff. Suppose this sells anyway, just because nobody else would do it ... It's very likable too, very likable indeed. So, what is it then? Well, basically it's a four track EP, totalling 7:41, with very simple sounding songs and one helium enhanced madness attack on a bunch of drums. Someone described it as Cartman being forced into a studio and filled with helium and that's not far off in my opinion.
You don't need to hear many seconds of BS2000 to realize there are Beastie Boys behind it. It's the voices of course, but also the mood. It's hard to maintain a bad mood with these guys around, and they're as lighthearted as ever. Not songs that keep you awake through the night contemplating their deeper meaning, they just feel good for the moment. Not too bad that either ... Plus if you've got time to listen, you've got time to listen twice or more ...
A shot of simple feelgood music whenever you need it. The cover says there'll be/is (no research has been done on my part) an album called Simply Mortified. Not sure if it's a promise or a threat ...
