The Soundtrack of Our Lives

Whew, it did fit on one line (at some resolutions anyway ... :-)!

So, what do people call this kind of music? Their first album is probably best described as rock, while the second one is more psychedelic, but don't let that deter you. Two records so far, both packed tight with great music you can listen for a long time to. Someone called them Oasis without choruses, which is something I hadn't thought of before. There are very few normal choruses in their songs, but, again, don't let that deter you. It's so thight and atmospheric, sometimes it almost feels religious in some way, and Ebbot, the singer, does have an ironic voice ... You can listen to their songs over and over, and discover nice little touches and sounds all the time. The intro of Black star is still just as great every time. As is Confrontation camp. And ... And ... They take some time and listening to get into though, but they're well worth it.

I can't really say one single song you should listen to to get the feel of TSOOL, because there's so much to every song. But if I have to I'll say Instant Repeater '99 or Black Star, from the first and second album respectively (see, it is impossible to settle for one song ...). If you like them, go out and buy the albums, their names are Welcome to the infant freebase and Extended revelation (for the psychic weaklings of the western civilzation). You won't be disappointed, even if it takes a bit longer to get into the second than the first.

And another thing; they're even better live. I saw them play live once, and the reviewer who saw the same concert thought that it was one of the worse they had ever done. Still, it blew you away. I can only imagine what a good gig by TSOOL would be like ...
