23/7

Last night was nice, a beautiful sunset, comfortable temperatures and no rain to talk about (just a bit once ...). The mosquitos seemed quite happy too, but I find that a very minor issue as long as they're not in my room when I want to sleep ... Very good timing of Martin to have his birthday on the one day of the week when there was actually some kind of summer weather worth mentioning. That meant we could take the walk we tried another time, but this time without risking to fall into the canal ... But today everything was back to normal again, I woke up to the familiar sound of rain falling on the world. Opened my window, laid down in bed again and just listened, I still like that sound (and perhaps the fact that it motivates you being indoors too :-). First, I thought I'd try to get up right away so that I'd be able to go to bed at a decent time tonight. Then, I realized that because of the rest of the family there's no greater risk I'll get to bed all that early anyway (besides, there's a film I'd like to see tonight too, so that ruins it anyway ...). That made me think that I might as well stay in bed for as long as I liked. But then I had to go to the bathroom anyway, so I kind of got up after all ... So, now I sit here at about a quarter to twelve, feeling a bit tired (late night Trivial Pursuit games take their toll ... :-) and knowing I won't get to bed very early tonight. Stupid me ...

The rain's causing troubles no end all over the country, roads are underwater, houses are being washed away, but to me it's still mostly a soothing background effect. Perspectives are as different as always ... Would probably be a bit different if we had a basement to worry about for example, doesn't take much to change views ...

And Niclas, thanks for driving me home! And get that website going! Niclas' car, inoffically known as Trollet (the troll, because it works like one, don't ask me what that means ... :-) is cool in the cheap, worn and slowly-falling-apart sense. That is, it looks like everything's coming apart and has been fixed in cool ways to work, and it has. Not quiet, not too fast, but it works and it's cheap, and that has a coolness of its own, way different from the coolness of a sleek, powerful sportscar of course ...

Think I don't really find the right words or sentences here to say what I mean, perhaps me not knowing exactly what I mean to say is part of the reason. Still feeling a bit tired ...
