Fatboy Slim

Another example of how the first impression isn't always the right one. When I first heard The Rockafeller skank sometime during the summer of 1998 I thought something along the lines of "crap" or similar. obviously I didn't pay enough attention. I realized my mistake when I heard, and saw the video for, Right here, right now a month or so ago. Good thing it's never too late to improve and listen another time ...

The sound's great, very nice for late night homesite editing, especially with some heavy bass added. It's so much better than Homework, by Daft Punk, which I put in the same category. Maybe they shouldn't be so afraid of vocal samples. At least Music Sounds Better With You is an improvement ... Or perhaps it's just that I like the Fatboy sound better (well, it is of course like that), it makes you happy, it makes you want to dance, and it's at least as block-rocking as any other beat ;-). And, yes, I like the video for Right here right now, pity I haven't seen the others.

I still wonder who that guy on the cover is though ... I know it isn't Norman, but is there any connection (well, he sure isn't slim ... ;-) with him, the record, the name or so?

Was Norman perchance involved in Wildchild? Renegade Master sounds two to three whole lots like something he might do ...

He just can't do bad things, can he? Found some Fatboy Slim remix of some song possibly called Eva online. Appearantly it's available on some Norman Cook/Fatboy Slim record, might be something to take a look at. Rocks as usual, but can't say how much is thanks to a strong original song since I haven't heard it. Can't imagine it's very much though, the whole thing oozes Fatboy Slim sound and style.
