Life

Life's absurd...

Just think about it. Just what use is the computer I'm using now for my continued survival? Or the internet for that matter. This is what you get when a species with sufficient intelligence is left with too much times on its hands ...

Of everything you learn, how much would help you survive if civilization suddenly ended? Algebra? Programming in Java? Using a coffee machine? German grammar?

Have you ever wondered what all this technology is good for? Is there a purpose with all this? Actually, there is one objective quite obvious after some thinking;
The continued existence of mankind.

One day, the sun will either just shrink and die, or expand and fry the earth first. At that point, if thechnology hasn't reached far enough to get us out of here, mankind will die with it. Fortunately, it already has.

But you can go on. What about when this galaxy dies, or this universe? Ok, it's a quite distant future, but if there are still humans about, they'll probably want to move away.

I think technology can be seen as a different stage of the evolution. When our technology started getting more advanced, we ourselves stopped evolving. In a way, evolution wasn't needed any more.

Instead, we gained knowledge to improve our chances of survival. Then, thanks to our knowledge of gathering food, we got to a point where we sometimes got time to sit down and get bored, and things got really out of hand ...

As Terry Pratchett puts it;
"Daydreaming got us where we are today; early on in our evolution we learned to let our minds wander so well that they started coming back with souvenirs."
